Probably one of my favourite photos EVER. Banjos? Christmas? Soviet cameras? TLR? Slide film? Communism? It’s like fuckin’ CATNIP.
Lubitel 2, Fuji Provia 400X.

Reblogging one of my favourite xmas photos to wish everyone a merry xmas. Enjoy the family time, go visit friends, and most importantly, shoot some film!

It’s almost christmas, and that can only mean one thing - it’s time to break out the banjos. Yashica D, Foma 400. Developed in Rodinal 1:50 for 11 mins at 20ºC.

I don’t know why I never posted these when I scanned them, but I just found them in iPhoto and thought they needed to be uploaded somewhere; it’s shots like this that not only make me love the Lubitel (and TLRs in general), but reaffirm my love for slide film, even when black and white is so tempting.

All these shots were taken with a Lubitel 2 and Fuji Provia 400X, which was E6 processed. The dreamy colour rendition on some of them stems from shooting into the sun without a lens hood. I’m becoming quite fond of doing that. Some films/lenses don’t handle it so well, though.

Aside: while rambling through the fields on this day, the hingepin for my Lubitel’s back dropped out and got lost in the snow. I’m happy to report that if you’re so unlucky that this happens to you, it’s actually quite easy to replace providing you happen to be staying with your mother - who, by chance, happens to have a massive assortment of knitting machine needles and peripherals that she doesn’t mind you stealing from - and a father who is really quite adept at making tidy ‘rivets’ with solder. It’s actually better than new now. Fantastic.

What Ade didn’t realise what that the lens cap was on - a mistake I’ve made more than a few times using the FED since then.
